Message from Our CEO
Welcome to the Leadership Newark (LN) website. I hope the site gives you a snapshot of who we are, who is involved and what we do. Our participants are part of the solution on a myriad of issues facing urban America.
The LN programs offer a unique opportunity to deepen one’s knowledge of public policy issues; develop ones leadership skills in a setting with a diverse group of people who are encouraged to challenge the status quo; and also open doors to greater civic engagement, whether as a board member or to focus on an issue of passion.
The board of trustees and staff recognize the most valuable asset of a community is its people. Therefore we are proud to serve as a catalyst for communities to thrive. Leadership Newark recognizes sound public policy is the key to solving community problems; Leadership is important to developing plans for succession and the future; Leadership is the foundation for strong communities on all levels. Therefore we seek out the best and the brightest.
As you view our site, consider your commitment and interest as a servant leader and join us by applying to the most suitable program for your skill set and interest or share your expertise as a volunteer speaker/panelist.
I believe in the words of Harvey Firestone, “The growth and development of people is the highest calling of leadership.” In a nutshell, that is what we do!
