At Leadership Newark, our nonprofit board training sessions are designed to empower individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to lead effectively in today’s dynamic nonprofit landscape. Through comprehensive workshops and interactive discussions, participants delve into best practices in governance, strategic planning, and ethical decision-making, all while fostering collaboration and innovation.

Overview
The Board Service Training is a program open to the current LN classes, alumni, sitting non-profit board members and Newark residents who have a desire to serve on non-profit boards.
The 1-day course is offered 2 times per year with a curriculum that could be described as having 4 modules or major areas of coverage:
The Basics
Covers the nonprofit sector and the responsibilities of the nonprofit board
Governance
Covers the fiscal and fiduciary responsibilities of nonprofit boards
Legal Aspects
Covers legal responsibilities, technology and effective meetings
Capacity Building
Covers the uniqueness of charter schools, strategic planning and coalition building
